Agreement Signed Between Calucem and the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula

Pula, November 27, 2024 – Today, in the new premises of the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, a formal agreement was signed between the University and Calucem d.o.o., one of the world’s leading producers of specialty cements. The agreement, part of the joint project EDU CALUCEM TECH, was signed by the University Rector, Prof. Dr. Marinko Škare, and the General Manager of Calucem, Juan Martinez.

This project is part of Calucem’s broader TechInspire program, aimed at strengthening ties between academia and industry. The objective is to ensure sustainable development, foster innovation, and improve the quality of life in the local community. The project includes the establishment of a robotics and artificial intelligence lab, educational workshops, projects, scholarships, and knowledge exchange between students and professionals.

The total project value is estimated at EUR 28,000 over three years. “This project is not just an investment in infrastructure but also in knowledge, innovation, and our shared future. EDU CALUCEM TECH lays the foundation for innovative education and the development of young talent who can apply their new knowledge in industry. The concept of a university in the community is not just an idea; it is a vision that brings life and progress to our community,” stated Rector Prof. Dr. Marinko Škare.

Calucem’s General Manager, Juan Martinez, emphasized the strategic importance of the project: “EDU CALUCEM TECH represents a key initiative for us, bridging academia and industry to establish the foundations for sustainable growth while supporting the education of new generations. About the EDU CALUCEM TECH Project

The project encompasses several key activities:

  • Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab: Established at the Technical Faculty of the University of Pula, this lab will be open to the public under the name “Neighborhood Lab.”
  • Educational Workshops: Programs for students, pupils, and the local community, emphasizing technology, sustainability, and responsible environmental management.
  • Innovation Projects: Implementing laboratory-based projects for application in the local community.
  • “Grow with Us” Scholarships: Calucem supports promising students in achieving their academic goals.
